About Foothills Honey Company
Foothills Honey Company is a family owned and operated commercial apiary run by George, Susan, Matt & Joe Hansen.
George and Susan started Foothills Honey Company in the late 1970s, when they bought a house in Woodburn, OR, and were surprised to find some beehives had come with the purchase. They got hooked on beekeeping and built the company into what it is today, with more than 7,000 hives, 10 employees and 3 locations.
In 2016 George and Susan’s sons, Matt and Joe, entered into a succession plan to purchase Foothills Honey Company from George and Susan and keep the apiary alive into the next generation.
George and Susan still live at the company’s homesite in Colton with their immortal cat, Ole. Matt lives nearby in Mulino with his wife, Meagan, two sons, William and Tommy and their hyperactive puppy, Jesse. Joe lives in Aurora with his wife Ali, daughter Hazel and their dog, Charlie, who is always a good boy.
